Still Alive (and Kickin’)

Whew! Long time no see! I realize I let this place die down, but it never really had a goal to begin with. It started with an attempt to get a fresh start for a group that had already parted ways and it took only two days to figure that aim wouldn’t work, so afterwards it just sort of stayed here, with no purpose whatsoever. Still, its small size meant that there were no bad moments and it actually brought some good ones, such as getting to know Althir better and collaborating with Lt_Commander, so I’m happy knowing EFM, however insignificant, existed.
Still, there’s always that time when you realize you have to move on, which I had for this place a while ago, but I’m coming back to bring it some closure, anyway – and to make an announcement of sorts. See, I began this place to continue doing GMod comics, and while that didn’t really work, I managed to gather enough motivation in the last few months to work on something that was meant for this place back in early 2011.

Yes siree, despite the fact that there’s a handy machinima tool for the Source engine and the genre of comics is pretty much a dead fad, I’m still going on with those in my snail-like pace. Although you won’t have to wait too long to get this new one, as you can probably tell from the image.

In case you are interested in knowing who Hercule Cubbage is, or just want to follow me in another attempt at a blog, I’ll be opening a new place on time for the new comic. It’ll be found in this here URL thingy either as soon as tomorrow or as late as Saturday. I’m just going to clean it up a bit and get it ready for the opening, but it’s mostly good to go. So hey, if you can bother with it, keep your eyes peeled for that! It’s going to have an actual focus this time, so hopefully it’ll go better than EFM.

However, if you actually read this far but aren’t interested in keeping up with little ol’ me, then I suppose this is where I say farewell. Thanks for checking this place and all the best for your future endeavors, online or off!

The EFM logo that Lt_Commander kindly made, much better than my sappy first attempt. I never got around to using it, unfortunately, but here it is for our final goodbye.

PSD Issue #02

As with the last one, EFM gets it some hours earlier. Consider yourself blessed.

Also, as opposed to all previous PSDs, including the old series, I seem to be forming a coherent plot, the next episode of which is already in my mind. To the drawing board!

Passive Self-Destruction

Back in the day when today was the future and this computer would have been highest of ends had it existed, I made comics. Not particularly memorable and I actually only learned to edit them in GIMP after a few episodes – the first two or three are literally Paint-edited, though even then I tried to make it look at least clean, as opposed to many other “noobs” who apparently gave not a single shit. Unfortunately, all of these comics seem to be lost except the last few, which I made long after the series actually ended. Well, here it is again, new and improved!

Not too fun fact: My behaviour pissed off Mythos good, who kindly offered to make Hkjgh’s skin for me. Sorry again.

I do not intend to do this on any kind of regular basis, but every once in a while when I think I found something to make a comic about. I also won’t name them anymore, as the numbers will be their identifiers from now on. I only did that for the few that were between the end of the original series and the beginning of this one anyhow. That’s been less than half a dozen and only two more if you count the ones that aren’t technically PSDs.

Fun fact: Despite the name, PSD has never been edited in Photoshop and as a result never saves as a .PSD file.

SUBPRIME: Collected Edition

Hello again!

In case you want something more than JPEG files for your comic reading experience, I have gone to the trouble of making a PDF version of SUBPRIME.
Besides the entirety of the comic as it was always meant to be read, it includes five page of extras, listed below:

  • Two alternate covers for the comic;
  • An exclusive look at an unused “Overwatch Alyx” skin;
  • Two unused pages from the first version of the comic, dated 2010.

It’s not much, I know, but hopefully it’s enough to warrant your interest in checking this version.

Right-click > "Save Link As..."

Let me know if you’ve read SUBPRIME in this form, and whether you liked it or not.

Well, here it is, folks. After a few months of hiatus and a few more weeks of waiting, SUBPRIME is finally complete.

This is slightly shorter than Episode One and, as such, the shortest part of the comic, but hopefully you’ll enjoy it all the same. Remember, though, this comic was meant as one story and not three separate parts, so this is more an epilogue than anything else.
As for whether there might be a continuation… perhaps. If I get the idea for a new storyline in this alternate universe.

Enough babbling, I guess. I hope you enjoy it.

Let me know what you think in the comments section, please.

As usual, this will be available elsewhere tomorrow. EFM readers get this as an early exclusive. Also, a PDF version collecting the three issues will be available soon. It won’t be just the comic, though; it’ll have exclusive content, including a look at a never-before-seen Vance Subprime model and the original test pages for the comic that inspired the cover.

More! MORE! (Updates, that is)

Hey again, folks! Mythos here, with yet another update to our trusty little blog!

I just revamped our long-gestating Garry’s Mod Comics section! Gone are the awkward, clunky and empty pages for each author, replaced with a simpler list of the comics released so far. With banners! Cute little banners for each comic, to make identification easier.
I have yet to put Althir’s comics in there, especially since I don’t know how to organize the different comics he’s posted as one coherent series, but I’ll talk to him about that once he’s back from his well-deserved alcoholic coma vacations.

Next up – the Models section! That should be much easier.

New skin uploaded!

After a long period of waiting that began yesterday, the new skin of Mythos, best active Garry’s Mod comic maker yours truly, is available for download!
Included in the pristine new .zip folder are extras such as nothing at all! The model itself is state-of-the-art, using the very base Source 2007 model and textures with no bumpmapping whatsoever. Reminisce about the good old times as you stare at this model’s classically nostalgic crappy hands, a relic of the models of yesteryear. MYTHOS: both modern and old-school! Just be glad the thing is hexed!

You can find this beauty at If you pre-ordered it yesterday, you’ll get a limited edition loss of up to three seconds of your life as you realize you just read this sentence for no useful reason at all!
Feel free to comment on this post and criticize every single thing about the model as if it wasn’t completely for free!

Up next on EFM: me updating the old pages. Exciting! Or maybe not. We’ll see.
